Job Description

Position Overview/Summary:
Responsible for driving all assigned Technology product goals and sales practices within a specific Region, overseeing quality in Underwriting for Technology products within a specific Region, and in alignment with overall Hanover niche strategy. Partners with RVPs across Region and serves as an advocate for the Technology niche business.

Main areas of focus are:
1) Training agents on Technology products and marketplace;
2) Business Development pipeline management;
3) Underwriting Referrals;
4) Developing field underwriters competency in positioning an account for the sale.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

- Drives achievement of sales goals in each office and at the region level by partnering with field underwriting staff to develop sales plans; monitoring progress and reviewing results with partners; and sharing sales best practices across the region.

- Coaches individual underwriters on sales and underwriting performance

- Travels with field leadership and underwriting staff regularly and as needed to model effective sales practices in the agency plant, seeking out partnership opportunities and demonstrating a successful approach.

- Reviews all referrals for assigned products in region, for both New Business and Renewals.

- Serves as subject matter expert for each office in the region, ensuring effective communication of underwriting philosophy, quality expectations and mix of business for assigned institutional niches.

- Partners effectively with both leadership and underwriting staff to influence results and set the appropriate direction for assigned products in each branch.

- Partners with both field and home office underwriting and support staff, as well as Institutional partners, to advocate consistent work flows and processes for assigned niche products.

- Serves as liaison between home office underwriting and product management and the Field, fostering open communication, a shared approach and common goals for assigned institutional products.

- Underwriting Quality of technology book of business including:
Profitability
Audit results
Mix of business
Classes of business

- Production of technology book including:
New business
Total written premium
Retention

- Regional Effectiveness

- Feedback from clients

- Overall growth and increased understanding of assigned niches in the region

- Recognized subject matter expert by both field staff and agency partners

Position Requirements

- Bachelors degree required

- Insurance certification(s) preferred

- Seven years effective previous Underwriting experience required

- Experience with Technology Accounts, including Tech E&O.

- Strong sales orientation; able to position accounts and close deals.

- Ability to Influence without authority internal and external partners.

- Coaching skills able to provide feedback and guidance to underwriting colleagues.

- Robust functional knowledge of assigned niche products preferred, or at minimum ability to learn quickly, and solid business acumen.

- Analytical thinking.

- Effective interpersonal communication.

- Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft environment)
